NBC is reinvesting in its hit urban fantasy drama Grimm. The network is busy developing a Grimm spinoff that will continue world-building in the Grimm universe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show hails from Grimm’s original producers, Universal TV, Hazy Mills and writer Melissa Glenn. Even though not much about the series is known in terms of its plot, it has been revealed that the new series “will feature returning favorites along with new characters, new mysteries and new dangers.” The new series’ main character will reportedly be a female Grimm this time.

The original series ran for six seasons and starred David Giuntoli as a homicide detective who finds out he’s actually a Grimm, someone who is destined to keep the world safe from the Wesen, fabled creatures that actually exist and camouflage themselves in our modern world.

The series is one of several on primetime TV that combined the standard procedural formula with supernatural or psychological horror elements (i.e. Sleepy Hollow, Hannibal, Lucifer) and garnered a cult following that supported the show until its series finale.
