Two-time Oscar nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has been cast as Janet van Dyne in Marvel’s Ant-Man & the Wasp.

The announcement was made this evening during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

She’s joined in the sequel by fellow franchise newcomers Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster.

The original Wasp, Janet van Dyne was revealed in 2015’s Ant-Man to have disappeared into subatomic quantum realm years earlier while disabling a Soviet nuclear missile. Long believing her mother dead, Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) had long resented her father Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man (Michael Douglas).

Tonight’s round of announcements confirm earlier reports that Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat) would play as Jimmy Woo, Marvel Comics’ Silver Age secret agent who later joined S.H.I.E.L.D., and thatJohn-Kamen (Black Mirror) and Goggins (Justified) had been cast in undisclosed roles. News also circulated last week that Marvel was looking to cast Bill Foster, aka Goliath, but Fisburne’s involvement wasn’t known at the time.

Goggins’ character, Sonny Burch, was introduced in 2003’s Iron Man #73 as the chairman of Cross Technologies an advanced-weapons design firm, once run by Darren Cross, the antagonist from 2015’sAnt-Man played by Corey Stoll.

Another Iron Man foe, The Ghost is a freelance industrial saboteur who targets corrupt corporations (in Marvel Comics continuity, the character is male). Dr. Bill Foster, meanwhile has a long history in Marvel Comics, was a laboratory assistant to Dr. Henry Pym who later acquired the formula to the Pym Particles and assumed the identity of Giant-Man.

Opening July 6, 2018, director Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp also stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña and Michael Douglas.
