One of my all time favourite tv shows is/was “Scrubs”. One episode which has particular resonance as I make this post was one in  which Zach Braff’s Dr. J.D. imagined a tenor appearing and singing “Mistakkkke” when he would do something stupid. This is one of those times I believe. We shall see. REC

Spider-Man Is Only Sony Character in the MCU, Feige Says

When it was announced that Sony was moving forward with its planned Venom movie with Tom Hardy set to star as the titular character, many fans were left confused regarding the status of the planned Sony Spider-Man spin-offs and whether or not they’d connect with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, while it was expected that these films would be their own things, Amy Pascal seemed to suggest that the films are a part of the MCU in a recent interview for Spider-Man: Homecoming. According to Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, however, that isn’t the case. As it stands, Spider-Man is currently the only Sony character to exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent interview with Jo Blo for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige reaffirmed that Spider-Man is the only Sony character that they’ll be bringing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although his comment does suggest that could change down the line.

Right now, Spidey is in the MCU and it’s just Spidey.

As for Sony and its planned Spider-Man spinoffs, Feige went on to say that he felt Sony was being smart in trying to make “a great Venom movie,” and even went on to praise the decision to cast Tom Hardy.

They have rights to other characters, and I think they’re being very smart in saying ‘We have to make a great Venom movie.’ They’re off to a good start hiring Tom Hardy.

While the announced spin-offs are sure to frustrate fans, especially after it was recently announced that Sony was looking to make Kraven and Mysterio spinoff films as well, the news shouldn’t be too surprising. After all, prior to the deal between the two studios, Sony had plans for various spin-off films. One can only hope that down the line Marvel Studios and Sony come together for a deal concerning other fan-favorite Spider-Man characters.

Arriving July 7, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Michael Keaton as Vulture, in addition to Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. Tickets are on sale now.
