Mark your calendars. Starz has finally set a premiere date for American Gods, the eight-part adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed 2001 novel by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. The first episode is set to air on Sunday, April 30 at 9pm ET/PT.

In addition, Starz has also revealed the following piece of key art, featuring Ricky Whittle’s Shadow Moon and Ian McShane’s Mr. Wednesday.

American Gods posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New. The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.

American Gods also stars Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Jonathan Tucker, Crispin Glover, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, Chris Obi, Mousa Kraish, Gillian Anderson, Omid Abtahi, Orlando Jones, Demore Barnes, Dane Cook, Kristin Chenoweth, Corbin Bernsen, Jeremy Davies and Beth Grant.

The series will have its world premiere at next month’s SXSW festival, followed by a Q&A with the showrunners and several cast members. You can watch the trailer below.
