Jeremy Renner thinks a joint Black Widow/Hawkeye spinoff movie “makes sense.”

While fans of The Avengers movie franchise have been campaigning for Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, to get her own spin-off, Renner’s Hawkeye character has been a little neglected in the clamour for more output by the fanboys.

However, the 45-year-old actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Hurt Locker, thinks teaming up with Black Widow makes sense for his character.

“I always thought it would make sense early on to do a Hawkeye/Widow movie because they’re quite similar – they don’t have powers, have high skill sets, and have history together, but I don’t think there are any discussions about that happening,” he explained to British newspaper Metro. “I’d love to do it though.”

The actor first appeared as Hawkeye in an uncredited cameo appearance in 2011 movie Thor and later joined the cast of The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. The movies have been a huge commercial and critical success, but now that Jeremy is a father to daughter Ava Berlin, three, he is mindful of not spending so much time away from home filming.

Speaking about working on the Avengers movies, he told Metro: “We’ve shot in London but it’s hard for all of us to be away from our families so we’re doing the next two back-to-back in Atlanta.”

Having become great friends with his castmates Jeremy admits that working with them is the highlight of making the films, explaining: “We’ve become great friends. I see Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson quite a lot. Chris Hemsworth has been so busy I haven’t hung out with him for a while and Elizabeth Olsen is a neighbour, so I see her quite often.”

Jeremy will soon be seen on British screens in something of a different role, as the star of adverts for telecoms company BT.

“A couple of buddies of mine, Alec Baldwin and Ryan Reynolds, did them and said they were funny adverts and I liked the concept they sent me,” he explained of his decision to star in the quirky ads.
