UPDATE: Ryan Reynolds Has Shot A Deadpool Cameo For ‘Logan’

(UPDATE: Logan director James Mangold, star Hugh Jackman, as well as Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds have all denied the rumor that the Merc with the Mouth will appear in the March release. The Wrap stands behind its report. Original story follows.)

Ryan Reynolds will cameo as Deadpool in Hugh Jackman’s third and final Wolverine movieLogan, hitting theaters next March, Heroic Hollywood has learned.

Reynolds, who just recently enthused about a Deadpool/Wolverine film, shot his cameo under the direction of Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch (John Wick, the upcoming The Coldest City), which will be added to the James Mangold film as a post-credits scene in all likelihood.

The actor behind the Merc with the Mouth and Jackman have spent years atoning for X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They rehabilitated their superhero alter egos in separate films since that 2009 misfire, Reynolds with last year’s super-smash Deadpool and Jackman with The Wolverine and the upcoming Logan, both of those collaborations with director James Mangold. Reynolds was basically dragged along into Deadpool’s much-maligned portrayal in Origins, which included sewing the infamously talkative superhero’s mouth shut and giving him a litany of random superpowers. Now, the two friendly actors have a chance at redeem themselves by righting wrongs of cameos past.

Deadpool 2 will be directed by Leitch, replacing the first film’s helmer Tim Miller, whodeparted after creative differences between him and Reynolds, as well as Deadpool writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick. The differences reportedly involved the scale of the film and the all-important casting of Cable. Miller has since disputed this account.

Deadpool 2 is rumored to start filming summer 2017 for release sometime in 2018, perhaps in the March 2 date currently occupied by an untitled Fox/Marvel film placeholder.
