“It’s the end of the year as we know it, and I feel…” is how Stephen Colbert, R.E.M’s Michael Stipe and actor James Franco spun “It’s The End of the World” for 2016 on Thursday night’s episode of “The Late Show.”

The Colbert team’s rewrites of R.E.M’s bizarrely hooky lyrics to capture all that has happened this year proved hilarious.

Kicking things off with “Oh, great/It starts with an outbreak/Zika and Harambe/Led is in the water main,” Colbert sang each verse before ramping up for the classic chorus.

Stipe, appearing too bummed to even mutter the “I feel fine,” just sighed heavily.

Other 2016 pop culture references included gripes about Ben Affleck as Batman, Black Lives Matter, the end of Brangelina, “Pokemon Go,” fake news, Ken Bone, Minions and plenty of Trump to go around.

Franco appeared at the end to bring it all home. It’s the end of the year as we know it and I feel…fine.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” airs weeknights on CBS at 10:35 p.m.
