ABC Orders Marvel Series ‘The Inhumans’ For Fall 2017

While an Inhumans movie has been said to be in the works for a long time now, it looks like that the plans may have been shifted now.

Marvel Television and ABC Network has announced that an Inhumans centered show is coming to their network in the fall of 2017. The first two episodes will be available to watch on IMAX next fall which was revealed in a press release.

“Under the agreement, a version of the first two episodes of Marvel Television’s new series “Marvel’s The Inhumans”–produced in conjunction with ABC Studios and filmed entirely with IMAX digital cameras–will run worldwide exclusively in IMAX for two weeks at the beginning of September 2017. ABC plans to then premiere the weekly series in fall, with additional exclusive content that can only be seen on the network.”

A brief synopsis of the series was also provided, as it confirms that Black Bolt and the Royal Family, will be making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut on television.

“The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. “Marvel’s The Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.”

Inhumans made their debut in the MCU through the current ABC Marvel series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. through characters like Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake, Raina, Slingshot and many more. The current arc of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is featuring Inhumans being hunted by The Watchdogs as Inhumans are now becoming public to the world. It wasn’t revealed who will be attached to work on the show as show-runners and writers. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the first season will have eight episodes.

The Inhumans marks as one of many new Marvel TV shows to come as Hulu is working on The Runaways, Freeform with Cloak & Dagger as well as Netflix having their Marvel properties in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. ABC Studios also has a New Warriors related series in development as a comedy featuring Squirrel Girl. While not part of the MCU, FX is getting ready to debut the X-Men related TV series Legion starring Dan Stevens in early 2017, with FOX also having an untitled X-Men related show in the works too.
