‘The Dark Tower’ Release Date Pushed Back To Summer 2017

Fans of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower will have to wait a little while longer for the film to hit the big screen. The Dark Tower was scheduled to be released on February 17, 2017 but the film has now been pushed back to summer of 2017, Entertainment Weeklyreported.

Principal photography on the film wrapped in July 2016 but sources close to the project are saying that more time is needed to complete visual effects and that the marketing needed to be changed to create a better campaign around the film release.

The original release date would have been about three months away and a trailer had yet to surface for the film, in addition, only a few promotional pieces had been released.

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

Directed by Nikolaj Arcel and starring Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Katheryn Winnick, Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Michael Barbieri and Claudia Kim, The Dark Tower hits theaters summer of 2017. Are you excited?
