CONFIRMED: DOCTOR STRANGE’S RACHEL MCADAMS ISN’T NIGHT NURSE

Fans have long speculated that Rachel McAdams’ character in “Doctor Strange,”Christine Palmer, might don a costume to become Night Nurse, the classic Marvel Comics character who eventually becomes romantically involved with Stephen Strange.

However, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige insists we won’t see McAdams as Night Nurse in the upcoming film, telling Entertainment Weekly, “I will say that that storyline does not play into the movie.”

He didn’t discount the possibility that it could happen at some point, though. “It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that,” Feige added.

It should also be noted that Feige was a lot more candid in his comments than McAdams herself. When asked about the possibility that she might become Night Nurse, she replied, “Mum’s the word on that one.”

The strongest evidence that McAdams will eventually become Night Nurse may come from an anecdote relayed by former “Daredevil” showrunner Steven S. DeKnight: He initially wanted Rosario Dawson to assume the mantle on the Netflix drama, but was told the Marvel Cinematic Universe had plans for the character “down the road.”

When and where we’ll see those plans come to fruition remains an open question; the only thing we do know is that it won’t be in “Doctor Strange.”

Directed by Scott Derrickson, “Doctor Strange” also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong. The film opens Nov. 4.
