Is Deathstroke joining the DC Extended Universe? Ben Affleck wants you to think so…

Slade Wilson, better known as Deathstroke, could be the next DC character to get the movie treatment if a cryptic tweet from actor Ben Affleck is any indication. The actor dropped a few seconds of footage from what can be presumed to be an upcoming DC film that teases Deathstroke’s arrival to the DC Extended Universe.

In a video, we see Deathstroke walking down what looks like an aircraft bay. He doesn’t do much but look around. This could perhaps be the character’s introduction in one of the upcoming DC films. To our knowledge, only Justice League is filming at the moment, so this could very well be Deathstroke’s entrance into the superheroensemble film.

Check out the tweet for yourself:

We don’t know for a fact that this is footage from Justice League or whether perhaps this is just an elaborate red herring to throw us off the scent of another, bigger inclusion in the superhero extravaganza. Of course, it would be kind of ridiculous to design a Deathstroke costume just to fake fans out. It’s more likely that DC Films was feeling generous this morning and gave fans a cool reveal to start the week off right.

It wouldn’t be so surprising to see DC include Deathstroke in its movie universe. After all, the world’s greatest assassin has been a major player in both the comics and in the TV universe in the past few years. Deathstroke, played expertly by Manu Bennett, has certainly been the best villain Arrow has had in its four seasons so far. In fact, we reported earlier this year that Deathstroke might not be returning to Arrow at all (he’s alive in the show’s continuity), as he was to be included in “another DC project.”

“The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project,” said Arrowexec producer Marc Guggenheim back in February. “Another DC project” probably means another feature film. Besides that small tidbit, we haven’t heard that much else about Deathstroke’s future until now.

A new comic book series starring the character also debuted this month, written by Christopher Priest, with art from Carlo Pagulayan. It may not be an accident that Deathstroke is getting his own series now as a cross-promotional effort with his potential introduction to the movieverse.

Deathstroke was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.

Affleck, of course, is the man currently wearing the Batsuit and is currently filmingJustice League, which is due out on Nov. 17, 2017.
