SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats and George Carlin Channels will air I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die full album.

The status quo sucks just a little bit more since George Carlin died. The comedian, who was arrested as a young performer to show solidarity with Lenny Bruce, changed the face of standup by putting on his real face, one with a beard and long hair. Along with Richard Pryor, Carlin took standup into new dimensions by testing the new freedoms of an open age and he did with more than just seven words.

I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die, the first album of new George Carlin material since he died in 2008, will premiere on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats and Carlin’s Corner channels on September 1, two weeks before the album is available. The new album features a never released performance that Carlin gave just before the September 11 attacks.

“My dad was so efficient, he’d use up his material either in his HBO shows or books with nothing leftover. I’m amazed we found this stuff, and the comedy nerd in me was thrilled,” Kelly Carlin, George’s daughter, said in a statement. “It’s vintage ‘crossing the line’ Carlin material.”

I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die was performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 9 and 10, 2001. Carlin reworked the material after 9/11 his 2001 special Complaints & Grievances. This will be the first time since the actual performance that the bits will be heard raw and uncensored.

“There are very few stars – if any – that shine brighter in the comedy world than George Carlin,” Jack Vaughn, Senior Vice President of Comedy Programming at SiriusXM, said. “After 15 years on the cutting room floor, I’m thrilled that this hidden gem will finally see the light of day – and that SiriusXM subscribers will be the first to hear it. Dark, twisted, and above all else, funny – it’s Carlin at his best.”

The album will also feature a  home recording Carlin made when was 19 years old, in 1957.

SiriusXM will air the audio documentary George Carlin: A Life in Comedy, hosted by Ron Bennington, just before the album premieres. The audio doc features some of the biggest names in comedy, including Penn Jillette, Kevin Hart, Seth Rogen and the late Patrice O’Neal. The special also talks with some of Carlin’s closest friends.

I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die will premiere on Thursday, September 1st at 4:00 pm ET on SiriusXM’s Carlin’s Corner (channel 400) and at 7:00 pm ET on Comedy Greats (channel 94), with subsequent airings running on Raw Dog Comedy Hits (channel 99). It also be available through the SiriusXM App on smartphones and other connected devices, and online at

The album I Kinda Like It When A Lotta People Die will be available from MPI on CD, limited edition vinyl, and digital platforms on September 16, 2016.
