During last week’s “Suicide Squad” press tour, actor Jared Leto revealed that more than a few scenes featuring the Joker had been cut from the film. In a more recent interview with BBC Radio 1 host Edith Bowman, the Joker actor got into more detail about exactly how much was cut — and why he thinks it was cut.

“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene that it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie,” said Leto. “If I were to die tomorrow maybe the studio would roll something out.”

And that’s not the only opinion Leto gave regarding the new DC/WB film. “I always wished this film was rated R, and I had actually said that when we were starting,” said Leto. “It felt like if a film was ever going to be rated R it should be the one about the villains.”

The possibility of an R-rated “Suicide Squad” sequel isn’t out of the question, should the film get a follow-up. Director David Ayer told MTV back in April that an R-rated sequel “would be worth lobbying for.”

You can check out the rest of Leto’s interview below. Directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis and more, “Suicide Squad” is in theaters now.
