Avengers: Infinity War will no longer be a two-parter, and Avengers 4 is now up for grabs.

Well, now that the whole “break your blockbuster into two parts” thing seems to have fallen out of favor in Hollywood, superhero movies are taking notice. First came the news thatJustice League, which was originally announced as a two-parter, would instead be one movie (although Warner Bros. is still keeping Justice League 2 on the calendar). But nowAvengers: Infinity War, which was also announced as a two-parter, is changing things up, too.

“We’ve always had a plan since Nick Fury broke into Tony Stark’s house and told him he’s part of a bigger universe,” Kevin Feige said back in October of 2014 when the project was first announced. “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is the beginning of the culmination of everything that has come before.”

And it will be. We’re definitely going to see the assembled might of the Marvel Cinematic Universe take on Thanos, and who knows? It might still end up essentially being a two-movie story. There had already been noises made that these films would be retitled anyway, so maybe it’s only the second movie that’s getting this treatment.

Avengers: Infinity War will star pretty much everyone. It boasts the Captain America: Civil War creative team of Joe and Anthony Russo directing with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley writing.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4th, 2018, and Untitled Avengers
